A document was quietly published by NHSE in September 2023 reiterating that NHSE had delegated the commissioning of local enhanced services to ICBs. However the document also suggests that ICBs are also now free to make arrangements for the provision of local enhanced services through contractual variation of existing primary medical care contracts rather than through the standard NHS Contract.
The implications of this remain to be seen and a central steer on this would be useful. However, we thought it prudent to make a copy of the NHSE document available on the Resources section of our website (under Contracts - England) just in case LMCs are approached by their ICB.
